No one embodies Black History Month more than civil rights giant, Martin Luther King, Jr. and hIs courageous and inspiring story is retold in countless history books and documentaries. Here at Michael Brent, however, his story is told through the Ruth Roberts' musical, "I Remember Martin Luther King, Jr.
With permission from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Estate, the musical "I Remember Martin Luther King, Jr." is an American celebration of freedom. Students take the parts of storytellers to recreate, in drama and song, the various incidents of the Reverend King’s life from boyhood to preacher of non-violence. Also recreated is the landmark Supreme Court decision that declared segregation to be unconstitutional. The music used throughout is authentic American Spiritual and Gospel songs. For grades 3-9. The play is 35 minutes in duration.
